Abstract: Weiqi as a competitive game was originally a physical “skill”, yet later gradually becoming an art and connected to metaphysical “Taoism”. This process of meaning generation of Weiqi is related to traditional Chinese mechanism of knowledge generation. The meaning construction of Chinese Weiqi forms an “intertextual relation” between Weiqi theories, and between Weiqi and other board games; what they ultimately refer to is Chinese culture. Chinese Weiqi theories, other board game theories, as well as musical instrument, calligraphy, painting, poetry and writing theories, are all using the same set of discourse to describe different subjects, which decides their discourse commonness, of course, they have their own particularities as well.Key words: sports thought；history of Weiqi ideology；meaning generation；Weiqi theory discourse
